What is Your Target? by David Herbertson, December 2, 2017
Cross of Jesus Car-$-House Sex-Drugs-Alcohol Fame-Good Life This game of life can be compared to the game of golf in many ways. You will never win if you don’t aim at the right target. Life and golf are not easy. You will face trials and sometimes you will miss a 15-inch putt. And sometimes you will say something or do something very stupid and wrong. You need a mulligan---a do-over---forgiveness---someone to encourage you not to quit or feel discouraged for too long. I have found this friend that does this for me every day. He (Jesus) is the one that gave His life for my salvation over 2000 years ago. That is the target that we all need to be aiming at if we want to get to the right destination which is heaven. Sure, we will miss our mark at times and that 15-inch putt will somehow slide past the hole. We will face times of suffering for health and other reasons as we go through our short time on earth. The Bible tells us in James 4:7 “Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” James 4:8 “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” We need to keep our eye on the cross (target) and keep improving and growing closer and closer to God and to follow the instructions of the Apostle Paul who said in Philippians 3:13-14 “Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it but one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining for what is ahead, I press on toward the goal which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Remember that if you are not aiming at the right target you will never make it to heaven just like a putt that comes up short never has a chance to go in. I have found this to be the best method for living my life in a way that pleases God. Let God be your Pilot Let Jesus be your Co-Pilot Let the Holy Spirit be your Navigator Victory will be certain! I Corinthians 1:18 “The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but unto us who are being saved it is the power of God.” David Herbertson December 2, 2017 dherbertson@att.net A Special Invitation to You
