Jesus IS God

In Acts 2, the Holy Spirit does indeed come upon the disciples and they begin to speak in other tongues. In the crowd of Jews that heard these men speak were Jews “of every nation under heaven”, and they did hear what was spoken in their own tongue, despite the disciples all being Galilaeans. When the Apostle Peter addressed the crowd speaking of Jesus whom the Jews had crucified, and God had raised up – some asked what they should do. Peter told them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins – and 3000 were added to those who worship the Lord.

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
This is a pretty obvious declaration by Jesus that He is in fact God. God the Father will send the Holy Spirit in His name to remind everyone of Jesus teaching – how much clearer can it get?

John 6:27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
Everlasting life, which the Son of man (Jesus) shall give to us, the Father hath sealed, God the Father has appointed Jesus to be the Savior of man.

The Son of man, Jesus favorite self-designation is in fact from the Old Testament.
Daniel 7:13-14 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
Notice how these words echo Jesus own words in Matthew 24:30 and Matthew 26:64

John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
This is one of seven statements Jesus makes in the Book of John concerning Himself and in which He uses the Old Testament title: I Am – God’s covenant name for Himself. (Exodus 3:14)

Isaiah 40:3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
This passage refers to John the Baptist (Matthew 3:1-3) who “prepared” the way for Jesus – John baptized Jesus Himself (Matthew 3:13-16) and called Jesus; Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. (John 1:29)

Psalm 2:7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
This is an obvious reference to Jesus as the Messiah. (Matthew 3:16-17)

Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
Jesus would be silent before his accusers (Matthew 27:12-14)

Isaiah 53:12…because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors
Christ would be crucified with criminals (Luke 23:33)

Zechariah 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
The Roman soldiers pierced the side of Christ (John 19:34)

In John 5:17-18, Jesus claims God is His Father, and the Jews believe Him and therefore seek to kill Him for claiming such, for if God is the Father of Christ – then Christ is divine. Why is it that people today cannot read these very same things and believe that Christ is in fact the Messiah?

One last set of verses I wish to present: Mark 14:61-62…Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

The High priest asks if Jesus is the Christ, Christ is not a name but rather a title that means: Messiah. Note Jesus again uses the covenant name of God – I Am. As well Jesus says He will be seen sitting on the right hand of power – an obvious reference to God the Father.

There can be no doubt, Jesus Christ is both man and God – deserving of our worship. Choose Jesus and choose life.
